Price GEO services in three packages: a one-time audit, a monthly retainer and a fixed-scope project. As a starting point we suggest $500 to $1,500 for an audit, $500 to $1,000 a month for monitoring and $2,000 to $5,000 a month for full management. These are our suggestions, not survey data.
Key takeaways๐
- We could not find an independent, published survey of what agencies charge for GEO as of October 2026. Every range in this post is our suggestion, so adjust it to your market and costs.
-
Sell three things: an audit to start, a retainer to keep going, and projects for bursts of work.
-
The tool is the smallest cost. At October 2026 prices, tracking a client costs roughly $4 to $99 a month depending on the tool. Your time costs far more.
-
Price on the work and the outcome, not on the tool you use. Clients do not buy dashboards; they buy being recommended.
-
Use free pitch audits as a sales tool, not as a product.
Is there a standard price for GEO services?๐
There is no standard price for GEO services yet. As of October 2026, we looked for an independent survey of agency GEO pricing and did not find one. Some agencies publish their own GEO price ranges on their websites, but those are sales pages describing their own pricing, not market data, so we do not quote them as benchmarks.
That leaves you to price from your own costs and the value to the client. The good news is that the costs are easy to estimate, and the rest of this post shows how. If you are new to the service itself, start with our guide to GEO services for SEO consultants, which covers what to include in each tier.
What GEO packages can an agency sell?๐
Most agencies can cover nearly every client with three packages plus a free sales asset. The table below lists our suggested starting prices for US agencies. They are not survey data.
| Package | What the client gets | Suggested price (our suggestion) | Best for |
|---|---|---|---|
| Pitch audit | A quick look at whether AI engines name the prospect and which competitors they name instead | Free, as part of the sales process | Opening a conversation with a prospect |
| GEO audit | Baseline across key buyer prompts and engines, competitor gaps, the sources engines cite, and a prioritized fix list | $500 to $1,500 one-time | New clients and existing SEO clients |
| Monitoring retainer | Weekly tracking, a monthly white-label report, gap updates and a few small fixes | $500 to $1,000 per month | Clients who will do most fixes in-house |
| Management retainer | Monitoring plus ongoing fixes: comparison pages, FAQ pages with schema, Reddit answers, llms.txt, product page rewrites, outreach to cited sources | $2,000 to $5,000 per month | Clients who want you to do the work |
| Fix project | A fixed set of deliverables, such as five comparison pages or a product page rewrite | Quote per deliverable from your hours | Clients who want a burst of work without a retainer |
The ranges match the ones in our GEO services for SEO consultants guide, so you can use both posts together.
How should you price a GEO audit?๐
Price a GEO audit from the hours it takes you, because the deliverable is mostly analysis. An audit should answer three questions: do AI engines name the client for buyer questions, which competitors do they name instead, and what should the client fix first.
A typical scope:
-
20 to 50 buyer prompts across the engines the client's buyers use.
-
A table of who is named for each prompt, and what sources the engines cite.
-
The 5 to 10 biggest gaps, ranked by how close the prompt is to a purchase.
-
A fix plan with owners and rough effort.
If the audit takes you 6 to 10 hours, multiply by your hourly rate and round to a clean number. Our GEO audit checklist walks through each step, and the competitor AI visibility analysis guide covers the competitor part.
The audit is also your best path to a retainer. Present the gaps, show what fixing them involves, and offer the retainer as the way to do it.
How should you price a GEO retainer?๐
Price a GEO retainer on the work included each month, and keep the tool cost as a small line inside it. A retainer has two parts: monitoring (tracking and reporting) and management (shipping fixes).
Monitoring is predictable. You run weekly scans, build a monthly report, explain changes and suggest fixes. For most clients this is 2 to 4 hours a month once the setup is done.
Management is where the value and the hours are. Each fix is real content work: a comparison page, an FAQ page, a rewrite of a product page, a helpful answer on a Reddit thread that engines already cite. Scope it by deliverables per month (for example, two fixes a month) rather than by hours, so the client knows what they are buying.
Two rules keep retainers healthy:
- Do not promise a position. AI answers change from run to run, so promise work and reporting, not "first in ChatGPT."
- Report against a baseline. The audit is month zero. Every later report compares with it.
What does the tracking tool cost per client?๐
The tracking tool usually costs between about $4 and $99 per client per month, depending on the tool and how many clients share a plan. The table below uses October 2026 monthly prices from each vendor's pricing page, for clients with 25 prompts each.
| Tool and plan | Monthly price (as of Oct 2026) | What it covers | Tool cost per client |
|---|---|---|---|
| TrendlyAI Solo | $19 ($16 billed yearly) | 1 brand, 25 prompts | $19 |
| TrendlyAI Pro | $49 ($39 billed yearly) | 3 brands, 25 prompts each | $16.33 |
| TrendlyAI Agency | $149 ($124 billed yearly) | 10 client brands, 25 prompts each | $14.90 |
| TrendlyAI Agency + 30 extra brands | $149 + 30 x $15 = $599 | 40 client brands | $14.98 |
| LLMrefs | $79 | 500 prompts, unlimited projects | $7.90 at 10 clients, $3.95 at 20 |
| Rank Prompt Agency | $149 ($119 billed yearly) | 1,000 credits per month (250 prompts on 4 to 6 engines use 500 credits per run) | $14.90 at 10 clients, 2 full runs a month |
| Peec AI Starter | $95 | 50 prompts, 1 project | $95 (one client per project) |
| Otterly.AI Standard | $189 | 100 prompts | $47.25 at 4 clients |
| SE Visible Agency | $399 ($319 billed yearly) | 1,000 prompts, 30 projects | $39.90 at 10 clients |
| Semrush AI Visibility Toolkit | $99 per domain | 1 domain | $99 |

These tools are not equal. Engine coverage and scan frequency differ a lot, so the cheapest per client is not always the right choice. We build TrendlyAI, so weigh that. It tracks ChatGPT, Perplexity, Claude and Google AI Overviews only (no Gemini, Grok, Copilot or Google AI Mode), runs weekly scans with 1 sample per prompt, has no prompt-volume data, and is a young product from a small team with few public reviews. What it adds for agencies is fix drafts for each gap, white-label PDF reports on every plan, and pitch audits (25 a month on Agency). Our roundup of AI visibility tools for agencies compares the tools in more depth. For Profound's agency workspace pricing next to Peec AI and Otterly.AI, see Profound vs Peec vs Otterly.
What does the margin look like on each package?๐
The margin depends almost entirely on your hours, because the tool is a few percent of the price. Here is the maths with clearly stated assumptions. Swap in your own numbers.
Assumptions (illustration only): your internal cost for a strategist or writer hour is $75, you track clients on TrendlyAI Agency at $14.90 per client, and prices sit in the middle of our suggested ranges.
| Package | Price | Hours per month (assumed) | Labor cost | Tool cost | Gross margin |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| GEO audit (one-time) | $1,000 | 8 | $600 | $14.90 | $385.10 (about 39%) |
| Monitoring retainer | $750/mo | 3 | $225 | $14.90 | $510.10 (about 68%) |
| Management retainer | $3,000/mo | 20 | $1,500 | $14.90 | $1,485.10 (about 50%) |
Three things stand out. First, the audit has the thinnest margin, which is fine because it sells the retainer. Second, monitoring has a high margin but a low dollar amount, so it works best at volume. Third, management brings in the most profit per client, but only if you scope deliverables tightly. One unscoped month of "can you also write..." can wipe out the margin.
If you use a tool at $99 per client instead of $14.90, the monitoring margin drops from about 68% to about 57%. It matters, but your hours matter more.
How do you use free pitch audits without giving away the work?๐
Use a pitch audit to show the problem, not to solve it. A prospect should leave the call knowing that a competitor is recommended for their buyer questions and they are not, without a full fix plan they can hand to someone else.
A simple flow:
-
Run a quick check on the prospect's domain before the call. TrendlyAI's free AI visibility check takes about 30 seconds, needs no signup and runs 5 prompts on ChatGPT and Perplexity.
-
Show two or three prompts where a competitor is named and the prospect is not.
-
Offer the paid audit as the way to see the full picture and the fix list.
On a paid TrendlyAI plan, pitch audits are included each month (5 on Solo, 10 on Pro, 25 on Agency), and the agency page explains how they fit with client brands and white-label reports. For every guide on this topic, see our GEO hub.
Should GEO be bundled into SEO or sold separately?๐
Sell GEO as a separate line, even if you deliver it alongside SEO. A separate line makes the work visible, gives you a reason to report on it, and lets you raise the price as the scope grows.
You can still offer a combined SEO and GEO retainer for clients who want one invoice. List the GEO deliverables separately inside it, so the client sees what they are paying for. The two services overlap (good pages and strong sources help both), and our explainer on GEO vs SEO covers where they differ.
Frequently asked questions๐
How much should an agency charge for GEO services?๐
There is no independent benchmark we could find as of October 2026. Our suggested starting points for US agencies are $500 to $1,500 for a one-time audit, $500 to $1,000 a month for monitoring and $2,000 to $5,000 a month for full management. Adjust them to your hours, costs and market.
What is the cheapest way to track AI visibility for many clients?๐
By price per client, LLMrefs at $79/mo for 500 prompts is the lowest we verified in October 2026. TrendlyAI Agency and Rank Prompt Agency both cost $149/mo and work out to $14.90 per client at 10 clients. Compare engine coverage, scan frequency and reporting before choosing on price alone.
Should I charge for a GEO audit or give it away?๐
Charge for the full audit and give away a short pitch audit. The free version shows the prospect the problem. The paid version gives the full gap list, the cited sources and the fix plan, which is real work worth paying for.
Should GEO retainers be priced by hours or by deliverables?๐
Deliverables are usually easier to sell and to protect. "Two fixes and one monthly report" is clearer to a client than "10 hours." Estimate your hours per deliverable internally so the price still covers your time.
Can I resell a tool's reports under my agency's brand?๐
Yes, if the tool offers white-label reports. TrendlyAI includes white-label PDF reports and share links on every plan. Rank Prompt, Otterly.AI and SE Visible list white-label or branded reporting on some plans as of October 2026.
