What is the difference between TrendlyAI and AthenaHQ?๐
The main difference between TrendlyAI and AthenaHQ is depth versus price: AthenaHQ is a broad GEO platform with wide engine coverage, prompt-volume estimates and content agents, and TrendlyAI is a focused tracker that drafts fixes, priced for small teams.
AthenaHQ (athenahq.ai) calls itself "Action on AI Search." Per its pricing page, as of October 2026, it combines monitoring (visibility, sentiment, competitor benchmarking, prompt volume estimates) with action (on-page and off-page GEO/SEO actions, a content optimization agent, robots.txt and llms.txt management, citation intelligence). It integrates with Google Analytics 4, Google Search Console, Shopify and Webflow.
TrendlyAI (trendlyai.com) shows whether ChatGPT, Perplexity, Claude and Google AI Overviews name your brand or its competitors, finds the gaps where a competitor is recommended and you are not, and drafts a fix for each gap: a comparison page, an FAQ page with schema, a Reddit answer, an llms.txt file, a best-of list or a product page rewrite. Later scans detect when a fix wins a citation.

How much does AthenaHQ cost compared with TrendlyAI?๐
AthenaHQ starts much higher than TrendlyAI once you pay. As of October 2026, its pricing page shows three plans, with monthly billing selected by default:
- Essential (free): $25 of free credit, which it says includes 300 credits. Covers ChatGPT, Perplexity, AI Overviews, Gemini and Copilot, with unlimited users, prompt and response analysis, sources and competitor insights, content recommendations and the Athena AI agent.
-
Starter: $295/month with 3,600 credits a month ("$300/month free credit"). Up to 11 models, unlimited topics, prompts and competitors, country-level support, CSV export and the content optimization agent. API access and extra credits are paid add-ons with pricing on request.
-
Enterprise: custom price and credits. Adds SAML SSO, audit logs, multi-region and multi-language support, persona targeting, BI dashboards (Tableau, Power BI, Looker), a dedicated Slack channel and white-glove setup.
Annual billing is 17% off. The page labels Starter as best for "Self-Guided SMBs" and Enterprise for "Enterprises & Agencies."
TrendlyAI's plans are $19/mo for Solo (1 brand), $49/mo for Pro (3 brands) and $149/mo for Agency (10 client brands, extra brands $15/mo up to 40), with cheaper yearly billing. There is a 7-day free trial with no credit card, but no free plan. AthenaHQ's Essential plan gives you something TrendlyAI does not: a free way to look at five engines.
How do AthenaHQ credits work?๐
AthenaHQ's credits are simple to define: 1 credit equals 1 AI response. Its credit calculator adds that Claude, Grok, DeepSeek, Meta AI and Mistral "cost 5 credits per response," while ChatGPT, Google AI Overviews, Google AI Mode, Perplexity, Gemini and Copilot cost 1. You also choose a cadence, from 1 to 7 days a week, and optional persona variations and prompt expansion add more responses.
Here is my own arithmetic from those rules, so check it against the calculator. 25 prompts run once a week (about 4.33 runs a month) on ChatGPT, Perplexity, AI Overviews and Claude costs 8 credits per prompt run, or roughly 870 credits a month. That fits easily in Starter's 3,600. Run the same set daily and it is roughly 6,000 credits, which does not. Run 100 prompts weekly on the six 1-credit engines and it is roughly 2,600.
So Starter is generous for one brand at weekly cadence, and tight for daily tracking with heavy models. TrendlyAI has no credits: 25 prompts per brand on four engines every week is what each plan includes, and fix drafts do not draw from the same pool.
Which AI engines does each tool cover?๐
AthenaHQ covers more engines than TrendlyAI. Its homepage FAQ says all plans include ChatGPT, Perplexity, Gemini, Google AI Overviews and Copilot, and paid plans add Google AI Mode, Claude, Grok, DeepSeek and Meta AI. The Starter column on its pricing page also lists Mistral, for 11 models.
TrendlyAI tracks ChatGPT, Perplexity, Claude and Google AI Overviews on every plan. It does not track Gemini, Grok, Copilot, Meta AI or Google AI Mode. If those engines matter to your buyers, AthenaHQ covers them and we do not. Our guides on ranking in Gemini and AI Mode and showing up in Grok explain why the answers can differ.
Which is better for agencies?๐
TrendlyAI is cheaper for small agencies, and AthenaHQ offers a partner program aimed at agencies that resell.
AthenaHQ's agency page describes centralized client management with team permissions, pitch-ready workspaces, discounted licenses agencies can bundle with their own services, GEO certification, a dedicated Agency Growth Manager and referred client leads. Its pricing page points agencies to Enterprise, with custom pricing. White-label reports are not listed on the pricing page.
TrendlyAI's Agency plan is $149/mo for 10 client brands, with white-label PDF reports and share links, and 25 pitch audits a month for prospect domains. A freelancer can send branded reports from the $19 Solo plan. For a wider comparison, see our best AI visibility tools for agencies roundup.
How do scan cadence and sampling compare?๐
AthenaHQ lets you set cadence yourself: its calculator asks for "days per week the prompt set runs," from 1 to 7. Daily tracking is possible, paid for in credits.
TrendlyAI runs a full scan every week with 1 sample per prompt per engine, and there is no daily option. Weekly is enough to see direction for most brands, as our guide to tracking ChatGPT performance over time explains. But AI answers change between runs, and AthenaHQ's prompt expansion and persona variations capture more of that variation than one weekly sample can.
What are TrendlyAI's weak points against AthenaHQ?๐
TrendlyAI's weak points against AthenaHQ are the same ones we list everywhere, and they matter here.
- Four engines. No Gemini, Grok, Copilot, Google AI Mode, DeepSeek or Meta AI.
-
Weekly scans only, 1 sample per prompt. No daily cadence.
-
No prompt-volume data. AthenaHQ shows numerical volume estimates; we do not.
-
Fixed prompt limits. 25 prompts per brand, against unlimited prompts on AthenaHQ Starter.
-
No free plan. AthenaHQ's Essential plan is free; we offer a 7-day trial and a free check.
-
Young product, small team, few public reviews. TrendlyAI is built by one founder. AthenaHQ shows G2 badges on its pricing page.
TrendlyAI tracks its own domain and publishes its own score, which is low. I would rather say that than promise results. Read the methodology and look at a sample report before you buy.
Who should pick TrendlyAI and who should pick AthenaHQ?๐
The right tool depends on budget, how many engines you need and how much data you want.
Pick AthenaHQ if:
- You can spend $295 a month or more.
-
You need Gemini, Copilot, Grok, AI Mode or DeepSeek tracked.
-
You want unlimited prompts and competitors, or daily runs.
-
You want prompt-volume estimates and GA4 and Search Console data in one place.
-
You are an agency that wants a reseller-style partnership with certification and lead referrals.
Pick TrendlyAI if:
- You want to spend under $150 a month, or under $20 for one brand.
-
ChatGPT, Perplexity, Claude and Google AI Overviews cover where your buyers ask.
-
You want a specific fix drafted for each gap, ready to edit and publish.
-
You need white-label PDF reports and pitch audits without an enterprise contract.
If you are still comparing tools, our Rank Prompt alternatives and Profound alternative guides cover more of the market, and the GEO hub has the fundamentals. To see where your brand stands right now, the free AI visibility check runs 5 prompts on ChatGPT and Perplexity in about 30 seconds, with no signup.
